Student Varsity Teams
About the Program:
The Hebrew University varsity tennis teams include the men’s team and the women’s team, each with 12 players. The teams practice every Tuesday evening at the Hebrew University Givat Ram tennis courts.
Try-outs for the team are held every year in the first weeks of the academic year and are open to all players. Players who meet the required team commitments over the course of the year are eligible to receive 2 academic points, which are recognized towards their Hebrew University academic degrees.
Competitions:
Over the year, the players represent Hebrew University in a number of competitions, including: Israel Tennis Association League (Men’s A League, Women’s A League), championships with other Israeli universities, the Annual ASA International Tournament in Eilat, the Alex U. Soyka Hebrew University Tennis Tournament, among other events.
Among the accomplishments of the teams: third place in the ASA International Tournament in Eilat (2017), advance of the men’s team from C League to B League (2019), and victories by the varsity players Iliya Wolfe and Alon Ein Eli (2nd and 4th place respectively) in the Technion Open Championship (December 2019).
